Pitcalnie is a small Highland settlement on the Cromarty Firth, reached via the A9 from Inverness then the B9175 coastal road. The area combines traditional farming country with views of the major oil rig yard at neighbouring Nigg, where massive offshore platforms are assembled before heading to the North Sea.
