Peak Forest perches on Derbyshire's limestone plateau, serving as a gateway between the White Peak's gentle dales and the wilder northern moors. The A623 provides the main access route, connecting east to Sheffield and west toward Manchester via Chapel-en-le-Frith, whilst the A6 through Buxton offers the primary southern approach. The village church retains the rare legal right to conduct marriages without banns or licence, a privilege dating back centuries.
