Partick forms part of Glasgow's West End on the Clyde's north bank, easily reached via the A814 Dumbarton Road from the city centre or M8 Junction 17 for longer journeys. The former independent burgh retains its character between the city and leafy Hyndland, with Glasgow Airport just 15 kilometres west. Partick Thistle's Firhill Stadium has hosted professional football since 1909.
