Paramount is a working-class city in central LA County, easily reached via Interstate 105 which runs through its southern edge. The 710 freeway passes just west, connecting Long Beach to downtown LA, while Paramount Boulevard provides the main north-south route through town. Most visitors arrive from LAX (12 miles via the 105) or Long Beach Airport (10 miles southeast). The city runs its own municipal electric utility, one of the few in LA County to do so.
