Overscaig lies in remote Sutherland along Loch Shin's northern shore, reached via the A838 from Lairg. Most visitors drive up from Inverness on the A9, then west through Bonar Bridge to join the A838 - about 90km of Highland driving on increasingly narrow roads. EV drivers should charge in Lairg beforehand as facilities are virtually non-existent here. The settlement sits where Loch Shin narrows into the River Shin, creating a distinctive hourglass shape best appreciated from the surrounding moorland.
