Ortley is a farming town of 73 people in northeastern South Dakota's Roberts County, near the Minnesota border. Take I-29 north from Sioux Falls, then Highway 12 west from Milbank for about 15 miles. The town sits in corn and soybean country with one of the state's smallest post offices that doubles as the local social hub.
