Newton Ferrers is a tidal village in South Devon where the River Yealm meets the sea, about 10 miles southeast of Plymouth. Reach it via the A379 from Plymouth through Yealmpton, or from Exeter via the A38 then A379. The village is known for its extraordinary tidal road that disappears completely underwater at high tide, making it impossible to drive to the lower village during peak tides.
