Newport (Mayo)

Newport sits where the Newport River meets Clew Bay in County Mayo, making it a handy stop on the Wild Atlantic Way. The R311 connects you to Westport 12 kilometres south, while the main route from Dublin runs about 260 kilometres via the M4, M6, N5 and N59 through Castlebar. You'll find around 25 fast chargers for electric cars, perfect for exploring Achill Island to the north or Croagh Patrick country to the south. The old stone railway viaduct over the river is a lovely reminder of when trains ran through here in the 1800s.
