Muine Bheag

Muine Bheag is a small village on the River Barrow's western bank in County Carlow, sitting across from Bagenalstown. You'll reach it via local roads off the R705 and N9, with Carlow 17km north being the main access point. The village serves as a quiet base for trips to Dublin (105km), Waterford (65km), or Wexford (65km), with about 30 fast chargers in the area for electric vehicles. The River Barrow offers good fishing and walks, while nearby Mount Wolseley golf course draws visitors. At dawn, herons stand perfectly still among the reeds along the shallow, clear river.
