Mount Zion is a small Illinois farm town about 10 miles southeast of Decatur, accessible via Interstate 72 and State Route 121. Most visitors arrive from I-72 at Exit 141, while locals commute north to Decatur for work. The town of 5,600 grew around agriculture and now serves as a bedroom community. Decatur Airport is 15 minutes north. The city was named after Mount Zion Cemetery, established in 1855.
