Mottistone is a small village on the Isle of Wight's southwest coast, reached via ferry from Lymington to Yarmouth, then the A3054 west. The area enjoys mild maritime weather year-round, with chalk downs meeting the sea. Most visitors come for coastal walks and Tennyson Down. The National Trust's Mottistone Manor gardens feature distinctive terraced slopes that tumble down the hillside in carefully planned tiers.
