Moone is a small County Kildare village on the N9 between Dublin and Waterford, about 65 kilometers south of the capital. It's handy for day trips from Dublin or as a stop heading southeast. You'll reach it via the N9, which connects to the M7 and M50 around Dublin, or from Cork take the M8 to join the N9 near Kilcullen. The village sits amid rolling midland farmland with several golf courses nearby, including Carlow Deerpark and Rathsallagh. The main draw is the magnificent 9th-century High Cross, standing 17 feet tall in ancient monastery ruins with intricate biblical scenes carved into granite.
