Montenotte is a residential district perched on Cork's northern hills, just 2 kilometres from the city centre with grand views over the Lee Valley. You'll reach it via the N8 from Dublin or N25 from Waterford, then climb up through Mayfield for a quick 10-minute drive from town. Cork International Airport sits 15 kilometres northeast, while the Port of Cork lies just across the river to the south. The area's named after Napoleon's Italian victory at Montenotte, a nod to Cork's connections with Irish soldiers who fought in European campaigns.
