Mile Town

Mile Town occupies the Isle of Sheppey in Kent, reached via the A249 across Sheppey Crossing. Part of a cluster including nearby Sheerness, Marine Town and Blue Town, it sits just inland from the Thames Estuary. The A249 provides the sole road connection to the mainland via the M2, whilst the B2008 handles local traffic between the island's settlements. The town developed around the historic Sheerness Dockyard, creating an unusually concentrated community on former marshland.
