Melmerby, North Yorkshire

Melmerby is a small North Yorkshire village just off the A61 between Ripon and Thirsk, surrounded by gentle farmland in the Vale of York. Most visitors arrive via the A1(M) to Junction 50, then through Ripon on the A61. The village serves as a useful shortcut for locals traveling between the A1 and roads toward Masham and the western dales, whilst also providing access to nearby RAF Topcliffe and RAF Leeming. The area's most distinctive feature is its connection to Victorian-era spa baths, remnants of ambitious plans to create a health resort using local spring water.
