Meelick (Clare)

Meelick sits on the N69 coastal road along the Shannon Estuary, offering grand views across to Kerry's hills as the river makes its final run to the Atlantic. Most visitors come via the N18 from Limerick, then take the N69 west at Askeaton for a 25-kilometer spin through Clare countryside. Shannon Airport is about an hour's drive via the N18. The village church of St. Senan boasts one of Ireland's finest Romanesque doorways, with intricate stone carvings that have weathered eight centuries of Atlantic storms.
