Manitou Springs is a historic mountain town at the base of Pikes Peak, just six miles west of Colorado Springs via US Highway 24. The 15-minute drive from Colorado Springs takes you from suburban neighborhoods into dramatic red rock country at 6,300 feet elevation. Long-distance visitors typically fly into Colorado Springs Airport, about 30 minutes southeast. The town serves as the starting point for the Pikes Peak Highway and features the original 1873 Cliff House hotel, built from local red sandstone.
