Magaliesburg

Magaliesburg lies right up against the ancient Magaliesberg range, straddling the Gauteng and North West border. From Joburg it's a quick 63 km run via the N14 and R24 through Krugersdorp, making it a firm favourite for weekend getaways and farm stays. Closer towns like Tarlton and Hekpoort are just down the road, while visitors also roll in from as far as Morokweng and Ladybrand. There's one fast EV charger in the area, and the real kicker: these mountains are over 2.3 billion years old, older than the Alps.
