Lydiate is a West Lancashire village positioned between Liverpool and Southport, reached via the A5147 from M58 Junction 1. The A5147 provides the main north-south route through the village, connecting Ormskirk to Maghull, whilst local roads serve nearby Aughton and Downholland Cross. St. Thomas's Church houses a rare 14th-century stone effigy of an armoured knight.
