Laytown

Laytown sits on County Meath's coast, about 50 kilometres north of Dublin along sandy beaches where the Irish Sea meets farmland. Take the M1 to Junction 7, then the R152 east through Julianstown for the most direct route from Dublin, roughly 45 minutes. From Belfast it's 90 minutes south on the M1, while the R150 coastal road from Drogheda is handy for local trips. The town provides good access to Tayto Park and several coastal golf courses, with around 40 fast chargers in the area for electric vehicles. Laytown's claim to fame is hosting Europe's only official horse races run directly on the beach sand at low tide each September.
