Lake City is a small South Carolina town about 20 miles northeast of Florence on US Highway 52. Visitors typically reach it via I-95 to Exit 164, then SC 341 east, or directly on US 52 from Florence or Darlington. The town sits in the coastal plain with flat terrain and sandy soils typical of the Pee Dee region. Lake City hosts the massive Artfields festival each spring, when this quiet agricultural community becomes one of the state's biggest arts celebrations.
