Laingsburg

Laingsburg is your classic Karoo pitstop on the N1, smack between Cape Town and the interior, so most people pass through on the way to somewhere else. Pop into Matjiesfontein just 27 km down the road for the old steam train and Victorian buildings, or push on toward Wellington, Rawsonville or Franschhoek if you're heading for the Boland. There's one fast EV charger in town. Worth knowing: the 1981 flash flood here killed 104 people, one of SA's worst ever, and the town still shows the old flood lines.
