Laclede is a small farming town in north-central Missouri, about 90 miles from Kansas City via US Highway 36. The main routes are Highway 36 east-west through town and State Route 129 running north-south. Most visitors arrive from Brookfield or Marceline on Highway 36, while longer trips connect through I-35 to the west. The town's 1930s grain elevator stands as a prominent landmark visible for miles across the prairie.
