Knocktopher is a handy stop in County Kilkenny, 15 kilometers south of Kilkenny city on the R448. The town sits between the Nore and Barrow valleys, making it a natural crossroads for traffic heading to Thomastown or New Ross. Most visitors come off Junction 10 of the M9, about 90 minutes from Dublin. The railway bridge carrying the Dublin-Waterford line is the town's defining feature, with trains still rumbling overhead regularly. There's good EV charging infrastructure here with over 20 fast charging stations nearby, making it a practical base for exploring the Ancient East route.
