Kinbrace occupies a remote spot in Sutherland's Flow Country, reached via the A897 which runs between the coast at Helmsdale and Melvich. Most visitors approach from either Wick (A99 then A897, about 40km) or Helmsdale (A897 north, roughly 30km). The station marks the Far North Line's most isolated stop, where trains briefly halt amidst vast peat moorlands.
