Kiel Crofts lies along Loch Creran in Argyll and Bute, reached via the scenic A828 coastal road about 10km north of Oban. Most visitors arrive on the A85 from Glasgow/Edinburgh or A82 from Inverness, both connecting to the A828. Local routes serve nearby Benderloch and Tralee. The name derives from the Gaelic "caol" meaning narrow strait, describing Loch Creran's constricted waters here.
