Kelford is a tiny farming town of 177 people in rural Bertie County, about 30 miles inland from the Albemarle Sound. Take NC Highway 45 west from Ahoskie (8 miles) or east from Windsor to reach this agricultural community surrounded by tobacco fields and pine woods. The town still operates its original 1903 post office, one of the last rural postal stations in the county.
