Joppa is a tiny river community in far southern Illinois, right on the Ohio River across from Kentucky. Take I-24 to Exit 45, then follow Route 145 south about 15 miles through rural Massac County. It's 25 miles from Paducah's airport and sits in classic river valley terrain with bottomland and rolling hills. The town of 259 people occupies a dramatic bend where the Ohio River curves sharply eastward.
