Wagon Wheel, AZ

Wagon Wheel is a small mountain community in east-central Arizona, sitting at 6,000 feet where ponderosa pines replace desert landscapes. Located on State Route 260, it's about 2.5 hours northeast of Phoenix via SR 87 through Payson, or accessible from Flagstaff via SR 17 south. The town of 1,700 residents serves as a gateway to the White Mountains region, with Show Low Regional Airport just 15 minutes away. A replica wagon wheel still marks the spot where the original freight route landmark gave this community its name.
