Vonore, TN

Vonore is a lakeside town in eastern Tennessee where Highway 411 runs along Tellico Lake's shoreline. Most visitors arrive via Highway 321 from Knoxville (45 miles) or take the scenic mountain route from Gatlinburg. The town sits in the Tennessee Valley foothills with easy access to Cherokee National Forest. Vonore is home to the Sequoyah Birthplace Museum, built on the exact birthplace of the Cherokee scholar who invented the Cherokee writing system.
