Vaalwater's your gateway to the Waterberg bushveld, sitting just off the R33 between Modimolle and Lephalale, so it's an easy detour if you're heading up from Pretoria on the N1, roughly 193 km all in. Locals nip down to Modimolle or across to Lephalale for supplies, both under two hours away. Charging stations are thin on the ground out here, so juice up before you leave the big towns. Fun fact: Vaalwater sits right on the edge of the Waterberg Biosphere Reserve, SA's first UNESCO-listed one, declared back in 2001.
