Thorncliffe

Thorncliffe is a small Staffordshire moorlands settlement near Leek, accessible via the A53 from Buxton or through Leek from the Potteries. The area's upland position means cooler, wetter conditions than the lowlands, with winter mists common across the moors. Local routes include the B5053 connecting nearby villages, whilst the A520 provides southern access through Cheadle. The nearby Chatterley Whitfield pithead baths offer a glimpse into the area's coal mining past.
