Optima is a tiny farming town of 72 people in Oklahoma's far western panhandle, reached via US Highway 54 about 15 miles south of Kansas. The town sits amid endless wheat fields on the flat Great Plains, experiencing the region's characteristic hot summers, cold winters, and constant winds. Most visitors arrive on US 54 from Kansas or Texas, while locals use Highway 3 for east-west travel to nearby communities like Hooker and Guymon.
