Mount Vernon is a small farming town of 442 people in southeastern South Dakota's Davison County. Take Highway 34 from I-90 near Mitchell, about 15 miles north. The route passes through typical prairie farmland with corn and soybean fields. Mitchell Municipal Airport is 15 miles southeast for air travelers.
