Melvich

Melvich perches on Scotland's far north coast where the A99 meets dramatic Caithness shores. This small village serves as a key stop on the North Coast 500, connecting Thurso eastward with Tongue and the northwest Highlands. Most reach it via the A99 from Thurso, about 20km away, whilst the A836 and A897 provide southern access through the Flow Country's vast peatlands. The village overlooks Melvich Bay's long sandy beach, with the River Halladale entering the sea through a tidal estuary that draws abundant seabirds.
