Malmesbury

Malmesbury lies about 65 km up the N7 from Cape Town, right in the heart of the Swartland wheat belt, so expect flat farmland, silos, and canola fields lining the route. Most locals nip in from Durbanville, Bellville, or Melkbosstrand, all under an hour away, while the odd traveller passes through en route to Matjiesfontein or further into the Karoo. Geology buffs will know the name too, the Malmesbury Group rock formation, found right across the Western Cape, was first identified here.
