About Lettermacaward (Leitir Mhic a' Bhaird)
Lettermacaward is a small Gaeltacht village in northwest Donegal where Irish is still spoken daily. You'll reach it via the N56, about 45 kilometers from Donegal Town through Glenties, or 35 kilometers southwest from Letterkenny. The roads wind through mountains and along clifftops, so take care in wet conditions. Electric vehicle drivers should charge up in Letterkenny or Donegal Town before heading out, as charging points are scarce in this rural area. The village sits where the Gweebarra River meets the sea, crossed by a lovely stone bridge from the 1890s that connects both sides of the community.
