3About Kilmichael
Kilmichael is a small County Cork village about 30 kilometers northwest of Cork city, reached via the N22 to Macroom then the R584 for a quick 15-minute drive through farmland. The village sits among gentle hills and traditional farms, connected by the R584 which locals use as a handy shortcut between Macroom and Bandon. Most visitors come from Dublin via the M8 and N22, while Kerry travelers take the N22 east through Killarney. The village is famous for the Kilmichael Ambush of November 1920, when Tom Barry's IRA unit attacked British Auxiliaries on the road just outside town.
