Holdenhurst forms part of greater Bournemouth, easily reached via the A338 from the M27 or A35 from Dorchester. The area sits just inland from the coast, benefiting from Dorset's famously mild maritime climate. Bournemouth Airport lies 6km northeast, whilst over 150 EV charging points serve the conurbation. The old Castleman railway line, now a recreational trail, still cuts through the district toward the New Forest.
