High Ongar

High Ongar is a small Essex village roughly 30km northeast of London, reached via the M25 to Junction 26, then M11 north to Junction 7 and the A414 west. Local routes connect through Chipping Ongar and spread across the surrounding countryside via narrow lanes between hedgerows and woodlands. The parish church houses a remarkable 13th-century wooden effigy of a knight, one of very few medieval wooden sculptures of its kind remaining in England.
