Haines is a tiny farming town in northeastern Oregon's Powder River Valley, reachable via Highway 30 from Baker City (12 miles southeast) or La Grande (45 miles northwest). Most visitors take I-84 to Exit 285, then Highway 237 north for 8 miles. The massive grain elevator dominates the skyline and serves as a landmark across the wheat fields.
