Fort Towson, OK

Fort Towson is a small southeastern Oklahoma town of about 550 people, located 15 miles north of Texas on US Highway 271. The main route connects north to Antlers and south toward Paris, Texas, while Highway 109 runs east-west to Hugo. Most long-distance travelers use US 271 to reach Interstate 30 in Texas or connect to US 69 via Antlers for routes to McAlester and Tulsa. The town sits near the historic Fort Towson military post from 1824, where original stone foundations remain visible.
