Folkston is a small Georgia city near the Florida border, accessible via US Highway 1 from Jacksonville (45 miles south) or Waycross (35 miles north). Most visitors take I-95 to Exit 3, then follow Route 40 west. The town of 4,600 sits in pine flatlands with a humid subtropical climate. It's known as the "Funnel Capital of the South" where two major railroad lines converge, with up to 60 freight trains passing through daily at the downtown viewing platform.
