About Doochary (an Dúchoraidh)
Doochary sits in remote County Donegal along the Owenea River valley, where old bog roads once linked mountain communities. The village lies on the R253 between Glenties and Dungloe, about 45 minutes from Letterkenny via the R250. Most arrive from the N56 coastal route, turning inland at either end. The roads are narrow and need careful driving, especially in winter. Electric vehicle owners should detour to Glenties for charging. What makes Doochary special is that it's proper Gaeltacht territory, with Irish as the main community language and traditional street signs throughout the village.
