Cutiau lies on Gwynedd's coast between the Mawddach Estuary and Cardigan Bay, just 4km from Barmouth. The A496 coastal road provides the main access, connecting to the A470 at Penmaenpool. Long-distance visitors typically route via Dolgellau, whilst local journeys link nearby villages through minor coastal roads. The village sits within sight of the famous Mawddach railway viaduct.
