Corfe Castle

Corfe Castle village clusters around the dramatic ruins of its Norman fortress, strategically positioned in a natural gap through the Purbeck Hills. Most visitors arrive via the A351 from Wareham or the scenic route from Swanage, though parking becomes challenging during peak times. The shattered gatehouse remains exactly as Parliamentary forces left it in 1646, with massive stone blocks still scattered where they tumbled down the hillside.
