The community sits in a river bend surrounded by the rolling hills of Pennsylvania's former coal country. Route 88 is the main road through town, connecting north to Charleroi and south toward West Virginia. The town's boat launch sits right at a dramatic bend in the Mon River where coal barges still pass by.
