Cartmel is a historic village in the southern Lake District, famous for its 12th-century priory with its distinctive diagonal tower. Access is via the A590 from M6 Junction 36, then the B5278 through Grange-over-Sands. The village sits in a sheltered valley between limestone hills and Morecambe Bay's tidal flats.
