Ballynacargy is a quiet village on the shores of Lough Derravarragh in County Westmeath, about 15 kilometres northwest of Mullingar via the R394. From Dublin, it's roughly 90 kilometres following the M4 to Mullingar then the R394, taking about an hour and fifteen minutes. The village is known for the ruins of a 15th-century Nugent family castle, where crumbling stone walls overlook the lake.
