Avalon, CA

Avalon is the main town on Santa Catalina Island, 22 miles off the LA coast. You can't drive there - take the Catalina Express ferry from San Pedro (most frequent), Long Beach, Dana Point, or Newport Beach. Once there, golf carts replace cars in this pedestrian-friendly town with year-round mild weather. The Catalina Island Museum holds the world's largest collection of Catalina pottery with over 7,000 pieces.
